A clear, accessible council website designed to help residents find information, complete key tasks and access local services with ease.
Ipswich Borough Council needed a clear, accessible website capable of helping a diverse community quickly find and use essential council services. With a large volume of information covering everything from council tax and housing to planning, waste and leisure, the challenge was to create an intuitive design that prioritised frequently used services without overwhelming users.
We designed the website around straightforward navigation, clear information hierarchy and efficient routes to key council services. Working closely with the development team, we supported the design through implementation to ensure the finished website remained true to the original UX and visual approach. Before launch, we also carried out an accessibility audit to identify and resolve potential barriers.
The finished website provides Ipswich residents with a practical, user-focused gateway to council information and online services. Important tasks such as making payments, reporting problems and accessing local services are brought to the forefront, while the wider information architecture remains easy to navigate. Accessibility was considered throughout, helping ensure the site could serve the broadest possible audience.
